Fender works on the ferry landing at Paynesville has seen large machinery brought in and changes to access to the area.
Raymond Island Ferry patrons may experience some minor disruptions to ferry loading and unloading procedures during the preparation for the fender works. Once construction works begin, with the crane being shifted to the northern side, there will be substantial changes to ferry access.
Major pile driving work on the southern fenders was able to be completed without disruption: however, to complete the northern fenders the space available for vehicles accessing the ferry will be altered.
The major works on the northern side are expected to begin on Monday 13 July 2015 and will stop trucks and all vehicles towing trailers from accessing the ferry. This restriction will be in place until the major pile driving works have been completed.
It is expected that, subject to weather conditions, the major pile driving works will be completed within one week and the vehicle restrictions will be removed.
Ferry patrons should also note that minor disruptions to the normal operation of the service may occur at any time, without notice, to ensure the safety of patrons and/or the timely delivery of the project.
As part of the project, the ferry will be taken out of service for a week in late August: further details will be available in coming weeks.
