In September last year, members of the Raymond Island community met with a representative of the East Gippsland Shire Council and discussed matters of importance to the community.
A number of working groups, as listed below, were formed to establish priorities and proposed actions plans for the Shire and community to work together and a contact person for each group agreed.
A number of working groups, as listed below, were formed to establish priorities and proposed actions plans for the Shire and community to work together and a contact person for each group agreed.
- Raymond Island Ferry
- Protection and Enhancement of the Raymond Island Environment
- Roads
- Pathways / walking trail / bicycle trails
- Boardwalks
- Tourism Opportunities
Some other important issues were also raised including fire safety, street lighting and that the island must be “elderly friendly” but no specific groups were formed for these.
Some groups have been very active, others less so. If you are the contact person or member of one of these groups and need some assistance, please contact the raymondisland.net administrator and we will arrange help.
The EGSC has provided Raymond Island residents with the opportunity to be heard and work with the Shire on matters of importance to us. We need to respond.
