Following the RI News 'Is it an alien?' (24 February 2014) and the RI Mattters 'A Monster From the Shallows (April 2014), he's sure that this is the same jellyfish species, although he describes their colouring as brown.
Ross sent a specimen was sent to the CSIRO Hobart in early February (total expenditure equal to two good bottles of wine), but reports 'still no news from Lisa on the results of DNA tests of our specimen. I will keep you posted. It is all very interesting. Logic, care and good environmental management will one day prevail with the Lakes - but don't hold your breath.'
