Bright idea saves dollars

Up Date from Kay Mooney
The response so far is insufficient for him to come over to Raymond.Island.  He works in Paynesville. He really needs around 200 to make it worth the trip. So far it's about 60,

Kay Mooney saw an article in the Bairnsdale Advertiser announcing the Victorian Government's Energy Efficiency Target scheme that allows householders to change over halogen downlights to LEDs free of charge, with an estimated 80% plus saving on lighting power bills. The changeover is through local electrician Glenn Calvert. She followed up and has sent through the following advertisement. If you are interested, please contact Glenn Calvert directly.

Family Bush Dance

Hi folks, we're organising the Bush dance again this year.

We will be holding the dance in the RI Community Hall.

Last year was a great success with over 100 people toe tapping to the jigs and reels. Great fun for all the family.

Entrance fee $5 per person or $15 for family.  Thank you.

Kay and Don.

Community consultation

In September last year, members of the Raymond Island community met with a representative of the East Gippsland Shire Council and discussed matters of importance to the community.

A number of working groups, as listed below,  were formed to establish priorities and proposed actions plans for the Shire and community to work together and a contact person for each group agreed.

  • Raymond Island Ferry
  • Protection and Enhancement of the Raymond Island Environment
  • Roads
  • Pathways / walking trail / bicycle trails
  • Boardwalks
  • Tourism Opportunities
Some other important issues were also raised including fire safety, street lighting and that the island must be “elderly friendly” but no specific groups were formed for these.

Some groups have been very active, others less so. If you are the contact person or member of one of these groups and need some assistance, please contact the raymondisland.net administrator and we will arrange help.

The EGSC has provided Raymond Island residents with the opportunity to be heard and work with the Shire on matters of importance to us. We need to respond.
