The ferry's back

The ferry came back into service on Friday 24 October after its biennial maintenance work.

It was slipped for most of October as it underwent a routine maintenance program that included cleaning and anti-fouling the hull, sand-blasting and repainting all deck areas, and cleaning and polishing the entire vessel’s paintwork. The ferry also had a new main drive motor installed, as well as a new battery and inverter power system and a new operator deadman safety switch. East Gippsland Shire's web site has a terrific selection of photos of the works in progress.

A big thank you goes to all those who participated in the driving and jockeying for the community bus. You made Cathy Holbrook's job much easier with so many people jumping to help.
There'll be a thank you BBQ for all of the volunteers on 8 November at 12.30pm at the Hall (food and drink provided by RICA).
